Job Summary

Responsible to ensure all inbound shipments of produce meet or exceed company quality standards and fully comply with all federal safety and food regulations. Lead in the development and daily management of the company’s quality control system, processes and oversee staff performing quality control inspections. Perform other related duties.

 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Quality Control inspections during the receiving and unloading of inbound produce and produce product shipments.
  • Inspect daily inbound produce shipments for quality and freshness utilizing appropriate testing methods such as visual, temperature, cutting, tasting, pressure tests and brix (sugar) in a cold storage environment.
  • Ensure WinCo Foods grading, and specification standards are met along with USDA and FDA standards on all accepted shipments of produce. Read and interpret quality control manuals specifying federal guidelines for produce quality and acceptance.
  • Coordinate rejection of any inbound shipment that falls below established quality standards, including documentation, return of product and billing credits.
  • Change expiration dates of inspected product based on condition and ripeness, when necessary.
  • Coordinate FDA recalls of produce; communicate action to be taken with Warehouse Management, V.P of Produce, Stores and Buyers as needed. Ensure all necessary records and reports supporting recalls and quality control rejections are prepared timely and effectively maintained.
  • Coordinate and maintain order pick slot availability on an on-going basis. Assign permanent order pick slots for new produce items.
  • Conduct daily visual audits of all produce order pick slots, identify and address issues such as, rotation of product, expiration dates, damaged product, needed repairs and sanitation.
  • Oversee employees assigned to perform quality control functions. Assess relevant training needs for individuals; coach, train and develop as necessary. Document substandard performance and work with the employees direct supervisor to take corrective action including formal discipline when necessary.
  • Address and resolve issues from stores.
  • Oversee auditing of incoming produce for proper counts and codes.
  • Ensure that all safety procedures and policies are followed. Ensure the efficient and safe operation of material handling power equipment and certification requirements have been met.
  • Supervise the banana operations including; projections, receiving, inspecting and selecting product to be shipped out to the stores.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

 

Requirements

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

 

Experience:

  • Have a detailed working knowledge of FDA and USDA quality control standards for produce product.
  • Demonstrating skills in leadership, organization and communication.
  • Demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail in order to effectively monitor progress and complete assignments.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of host, PC and internet-based software applications including Microsoft Office software; (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).                
  • Utilizing strong proficiency with numerical data and calculations.

 

Ability to:

  • Apply working knowledge of material handling principals, practices and standards of warehousing.
  • Apply working knowledge of employment law and employee relations to workplace situations including discipline and attendance.
  • Utilize excellent verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills.

Job Summary

Provide preventative maintenance and repair of the Distribution Center building operating systems and material handling equipment. Regularly monitor and check systems, such as the fire systems, and refrigeration system. Apply a strong overall knowledge of building operations to communicate and address issues accordingly.

 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preventative maintenance and repair of building operations including: minor electrical issues, air compressor services, dock doors, automatic operation doors, exit/entrance doors, storage racks, dock leveler, etc.

  • Monitor fire system regularly, including weekly, monthly, quarterly , and annual  fire sprinkler checks, replacement of broken sprinkler heads and addressing of fire alarm issues.

  • Communicate directly with Facility Maintenance Manager regarding any/all building issues.

  • Address miscellaneous light maintenance issues as they arise.

  • Participate in Emergency Response program.

  • Ensure that all safety procedures and policies are followed.

  • Communicate, direct and assist outside contractors with projects or contracted repairs.

  • Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area. Comply with OSHA standards. Work in a safe manner.

  • Assist in the monitoring and repair of ammonia refrigeration system.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years mechanical experience. 

  • Demonstrating thorough knowledge of spill containment plan and ability to apply it.

  • Demonstrating working knowledge of AC electrical, hydraulic systems, material handling equipment, fire protection systems, shop tools and equipment.

  • Demonstrating general maintenance and mechanical skills.

  • Demonstrating basic knowledge of electronic controls and computer skills.

  • Identifying system failure and/or items in need of repair.

  • Communicating clearly and professionally, utilizing excellent verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills.

  • Applying clear understanding of overall company practices, including in-depth knowledge of polices/procedures, in order to effectively judge and react to customer activity.

  • Conducting visual inspections, reading reports, computer printouts, register and computer screens, etc.

  • Performing primary duties efficiently and accurately with honesty and integrity.

 

Ability to:

Job Summary

Monitors and documents entry and exit to and from the grounds to ensure entrance only by approved individuals.  Monitors and checks in common carriers, outside contractors, etc. requesting entrance to the premises.  Reports suspicious activities to management if necessary.  Perform related work.

 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and check in and out common carriers; acquire order number from bill of lading, verify truck name and number, communicate dock door assignment to driver.
  • Monitor and record outside contractors entering and exiting the premises, verify authorization list, communicate presence to facility maintenance. 
  • Input order numbers into scheduling system to obtain a dock door assignment. Work closely with the coordinators from grocery and perishable in regards to schedule issues, unassigned arrivals of freight, etc.
  • Monitor all gate activity at the guard shack, identify suspicious activity.  Communicate circumstances to management, if necessary.
  • Secure incoming/outgoing traffic in cases of emergency such as fire, direct emergency vehicles to identified area of emergency, if necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

Job Summary

 

This position is responsible for providing direction, guidance and support for human resource related activity including: hiring, safety, coaching, compliance, discipline, training, and other duties at the designated Distribution Center (DC) location(s).  Establishes and maintain effective and cooperative relations with employees, employee representatives, supervisors, and managers.  Under the direction of the Director of Labor Relations serves as liaison between the DC and the Corporate Office related to Human Resources, Compliance, Benefits, Payroll and Risk Management departments.  Consistently provides world class customer service to internal and external customers. Performs other related work.

 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on taking care of the customer. Provide exceptional customer service with users by telephone, email, and in person.

  • Develop site-specific hiring and retention strategy for warehouse and transportation. Implement and direct WinCo hiring practices utilizing the online application system.  Ensure hiring activities support operational needs and comply with company policies and state/federal regulations.

  • Oversee new employee onboarding, orientation and training.
  • Provides guidance to management related to discipline, documentation of performance issues, compliance with applicable CBAs, company policies and procedure, and state/federal regulations.
  • Maintain and cultivate open door policy to engage employees and field employee inquiries, employee concerns, ideas, etc.  Maintain a regular presence in both the warehouse and transportation areas.
  • Facilitate communication between employees, supervisors and managers.
  • Provide support, guidance and assistance to supervisors and managers in interpreting, applying, and ensuring compliance with company policies, collective bargaining agreements (CBA’s), local, state, and federal employment laws.
  • Facilitate and/or work with appropriate individuals as necessary in the settlement of dispute process including grievances, mediation, arbitration, etc.
  • Establish and maintain effective relations with employees, employee representatives, management, other departments and government agencies. 
  • Consult and coordinate with the appropriate human resource or applicable personnel for guidance, assistance or transferal of HR situations.
  • Conduct onsite investigations of alleged violations of company policy and/or CBA’s; research, interviews, analyzing findings and recommend appropriate action.
  • Facilitate “Light Duty/Return to Work” program at your location.  Oversee processing of workers compensation claims and WinCo Food’s return to work light duty program.  Ensure all necessary documentation and follow up is complete.
  • Support and coordinate with Risk Management on investigation and resolution of employee accident claims.  Communicate and interact with injured employees to minimize time loss and ensure timely return to regular duty.
  • Work closely with third-party administrators of WinCo Foods’ workers compensation and general liability insurance to manage claims and control costs.
  • Coordinate with Distribution Center (DC) Management, Safety Committee, Risk Management and peers at other DC’s, to grow, develop and implement Safety Program best practices.
  • Facilitate DC Safety Committee activities including regular meetings, recognition programs, incentive programs, safety suggestions, and safety tours.
  • Support Risk Management in investigating and responding to state and federal compliance related matters, including complaints, inspections and violations. (OSHA, DOL, etc.)
  • Facilitate training requirements and programs, to include lift truck certification, on-the-job training programs, annual driver requirements, and all other safety and compliance certification training.  Maintain all related documentation.
  • Oversee random chemical screen processes in coordination with the WinCo Food Drug and Alcohol Policy, DOT standards and relevant labor agreements.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business, Public Administration (or related field) OR equivalent education, training and/or experience demonstrating considerable knowledge of human resource practices in addition to experience listed below.

Experience:

  • At least two (2) years in a human resource position with progressive responsibility in areas such as workers compensation, safety, employment law, etc., to workplace situations.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Applying working knowledge of conflict resolution including grievance process, mediation, and arbitration.
  • Conducting internal investigations; research, interviews, analyzing findings and recommendations.
  • Demonstrating working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) software.

Ability to:

  • Consistently provide world class customer service to internal and external customers.
