Oversee the direction and daily operations of the Payroll/ESOP group responsible for personnel records and retirement plan administration. Effectively supervise staff to monitor document management, retirement plan record keeping, communications with employees and participants, systems testing, vendor relations, and compliance. Select, hire, train, and coach personnel to meet business needs. Consistently provide world class customer service to internal and external customers.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external customers by telephone, email, and in person. Model friendly, enthusiastic customer service.
Supervise department staff, oversee work, develop relevant procedures, train, manage performance, and provide feedback to enhance productivity and ensure department outcomes are achieved.
Build a healthy relationship with internal customers, external resources, and vendors.
Identify and implement suggestions to improve efficiency and streamline processes and procedures.
Partner with internal business partners (such as IT for technology solutions) to ensure efficient processing.
Work with the third-party record keeper for retirement plans to ensure compliance. Oversee, streamline, and manage services provided.
Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations relating to employee documents and retirement plans.
Develop and provide training inside and outside of department.
Work with IT department on software updates and modifications to ensure timely release of system updates.
Ensure all reporting and audit requirements are fulfilled. Produce timely and accurate reports to management.
Develop needed reports that measure the quality and effectiveness of department operations.
Develop and administer programs and initiatives to provide a "Best Practice" organization.

Degree in business, accounting, human resources, or related field OR combined equivalent education, training, and experience.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a payroll, HR, accounting or finance environment with responsibility for workflow, policies, and procedures.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a role demonstrating the ability to train and lead staff.
Demonstrating proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) software.
Interpreting and implementing policies, laws, rules, or regulations.
Demonstrating strong analytic skills with the ability to create, measure, and scale workflow.
Effectively prioritizing and performing a variety of simultaneous tasks (multi-tasking) in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating initiative, dependability and self-direction to complete projects within expected deadlines or defined time estimates.
Demonstrating strong oral and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of internal and external team members and customers.

Preferred Education, Experience and/or Credentials:
Certifications in payroll, HR, employment law, or advanced business degree.
Experience in a supervisory role.
