Overview

 

Job Summary

Assist with the timely filing and tracking of store and distribution center licenses, ensuring that all individual locations operate in full compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations. Complete research related to license and compliance requirements for new and existing geographical areas of operation. Serve as a point of contact for external regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders regarding licensing and compliance issues.

 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research, prepare, and submit license and permit applications for new store locations, renewals, and special projects.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of state and local tax law changes to determine license requirements by various agencies for new and existing WinCo locations.
  • Utilize licensing software to administer license and permits.
  • Work with various departments to obtain all necessary data for license applications and renewals.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by gathering and organizing necessary paperwork and records.
  • Work with legal department and various regulating entities to ensure compliance requirements are met.
  • Assist in resolving issues and violations related to licenses and operational permits.
  • Investigate and correct discrepancies in business documents and licensing records.
  • Obtain and maintain confidential information from Board Members and Store Managers to complete license and agency updates based on business changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

Education:

  • Associate’s degree in a business-related field OR an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.

 

Experience:

  • At least three years working in corporate licensing and compliance role.
    • In a role requiring a high degree of confidentiality with sensitive information.
    • Researching and applying regulatory requirements, including federal, state, and local laws.
    • Utilizing strong analytical and problem-solving skills dealing with a variety of business scenarios with meticulous attention to detail.
    • Working with compliance tracking and license history systems.

 

Ability to:

    • Effectively prioritize and perform a variety of simultaneous tasks (multi-tasking) in a high-pressure environment, demonstrating initiative and self-direction to complete projects within expected deadlines.
    • Manage a large volume of documents and track deadlines.
    • Communicate utilizing excellent verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software with a strong emphasis in Word and Excel.
    • Perform primary duties with efficiency and accuracy.
    • Perform all tasks with integrity and extreme confidentiality.
