Overview

Job Summary


Provides asset management of all IT hardware and software. Ensure the correct management of software assets and licenses throughout their lifecycle. Responsible for hardware, software and the associated licenses from request, deployment, recycling and finally retirement. Ensuring all users are using the software within the product use rights while ensuring that the organization maintains compliance. Manages and maintains hardware inventory and CMDB and associated data tracking.

 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:


• Develops and implements purchasing policies and procedures, including those for equipment, hardware, software, and service provision, in conjunction with department leads and department-specific requirements.
• Tracks, evaluates, and manages a wide variety of hardware and software assets throughout the product lifecycle.
• Creates and maintains company CMDB
• Monitors license compliance of software assets
• Manages software and hardware asset management tools and processes
• Conducts internal reviews to assess current use and compliance of software licensing agreements
• Creates reports on hardware inventory management and software license compliance
• Performs asset data maintenance, generates and analyzes reports.
• Generates asset tracking reports and forecasts as needed for planning and budgeting
• Researches new licensing trends to determine impact to the enterprise
• Participates in vendor management for software and hardware vendors
• Point of contact for all IT asset management related questions

 

Requirements

 

Education:

 

• Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field OR an equivalent combination education, training and experience in addition to experience listed below.

 

Experience:

 

• At least five (5) years’ work experience managing IT hardware and software assets.
• Demonstrate proficiency in IT process analysis methods, change control methodologies, ITIL/ITSM concepts and principles.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the principles, methods, processes, and applicable regulations involved in supporting a complex software license portfolio across a diverse deployment landscape.
• Demonstrate familiarity common SAM tools, CMDB, IT asset discovery technologies, and data analysis techniques.
• High-level knowledge of technology associated with software licenses, and how that technology is used within the enterprise
• Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Utilizing excellent verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills, presenting ideas in user-friendly language.
• Effectively working with product vendors and support personnel.
• Exhibit excellent customer service skills and ability to work with others. Must demonstrate professionalism and courtesy in all customer interaction.

 

Ability to:


• Multi-task effectively while maintaining composure in a fast paced IT environment.
• Complete work in a timely manner with a high degree of accuracy
• Understand basic accounting principles including amortization
• Perform all tasks efficiently and accurately with confidentiality, honesty and integrity.
• Understand IT architecture to assist in understand software licensing requirements.
• Participate in sessions, presentations, and meetings.
• Utilize logical thought processes and learn new systems, concepts, and procedures.
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of server concepts, principles, maintenance and operation.
• Sit for extended periods of time.
• Lift and transport objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Push and pull hand trucks and push carts containing loads of substantial weight.

 

Machines and Equipment Operated:


• Office machines (computer terminal, copier/scanner, fax machine, telephone etc.).
• Hand and power tools.
• Push carts, hand trucks.

 

Preferred Education, Experience and/or Credentials:


• Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM)
• Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM)
• Certified Asset Management Professional (CAMP)
• ITIL Foundations certificate
