Overview

                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Job Summary

 

Supervises the business licensing team, ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local licensing requirements across multiple jurisdictions. Provides direction and oversight to licensing staff while contributing across all aspects of the licensing process. Leads efforts to streamline workflows, improve compliance practices, and proactively support company operations.

  

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Actively monitor and maintain working knowledge of ongoing federal, state, and local licensing changes and provide updates to internal departments as needed. Lead the design and implementation of changes necessary to comply with legislation.
  • Supervise licensing staff including assigning responsibilities, reviewing work, and providing coaching and support to ensure department goals are achieved.
  • Review license filings and renewals to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Research licensing requirements for new jurisdictions and advise departments on necessary actions to remain compliant.
  • Develop and refine licensing workflows and documentation; implement process improvements and identify opportunities for efficiency.
  • Act as a liaison with local, state, and federal agencies regarding license applications, renewals, and compliance matters.
  • Support implementation and use of licensing systems or software for tracking and compliance.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of business and licensing information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

 

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or combined equivalent education, training, and experience.

 

Experience:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a licensing or compliance role
  • Prior experience interpreting state and local licensing laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to research regulatory requirements and manage filing processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills and ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with co-workers, supervisors, store personnel and vendors.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience leading or mentoring staff
  • Experience using licensing or compliance management systems.
