Overview

Job Summary

The Staff Financial Analyst supports financial analysis and reporting for key business areas, with a focus on new store opportunities and operational performance. This role assists in collecting data, building reports, and performing financial modeling to help identify trends and support decision-making. The analyst partners with departments across the organization to provide accurate, timely, and useful financial insights.

 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Aggregate information from Real Estate and Construction to analyze new store site opportunities for presentation to leadership.
  • Perform financial analysis on capital expenditures and scenario comparisons using discounted cash flow and internal rate of return, including breakeven & sensitivity analysis on key variables.
  • Identify and report on actionable opportunities, such as identifying geographical and product category outliers and trends.
  • Build strong partnerships and collaborate with various lines of the business to support departments and achieve strategic initiatives by providing analytical support.
  • Assist in understanding of inventory management processes and controls to support efforts around reporting of shrink losses for specific departments, categories and items.
  • Support as needed, the training for end users of various reporting applications.
  • Perform various period-end accounting tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

 

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Analytics, Statistics or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

 

Experience:

  • Experience interpreting and analyzing financial and/or statistical information, applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail, and making recommendations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting/finance principles and exceptional math skills.
  • Exhibiting excellent communication skills (oral and written), strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrating expert level knowledge in MS Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.) software.

 

Ability to:

  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Quickly learn functionality of new software reporting applications.
  • Be extremely self-motivated, have a high level of intellectual curiosity, take initiative and drive results.
  • Multi-task and work in a fast-paced, multiple-priority environment.
  • Write and speak clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings.
  • Occasionally work evenings and weekends in order to meet deadlines.

 

 

Preferred Education, Experience and/or Credentials:

  • Graduate degree in Accounting (or equivalent hours), Finance, Business, Analytics, Statistics or related field.
