Overview

                                                                                                                                         Job Summary

 

Performs various accounting and analytical duties related to general ledger, financial close process, internal financial reporting, operational and distribution center accounting, and special projects.  Provides accounting support and research for various internal departments. Assists in guiding and streamlining accounting processes and improve efficiencies and business practices. Perform other related work.

  

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the general ledger, including account changes, unit number changes, cost allocations, and legacy system mappings to the ledger.
  • Reconcile general ledger to subsidiary accounting systems.
  • Coordinate and lead the fiscal period close with all accounting departments. Assist in the proper recording, accounting, and review of various transactions in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare, analyze, and interpret supporting financial and operational schedules for use by management in the decision-making process.
  • Design, update, and maintain internal financial reports generated from the general ledger and coordinate updates to reports generated from business intelligence reporting systems.
  • Reconcile various general ledger accounts and prepare related journal entries.
  • Work with internal and external departments to collaborate, innovate, and execute ideas for simplification and improvement of core processes.
  • Partner with key accounting, finance, and operations contacts to ensure they have the information they need to make sound business decisions.
  • Ensure that all work-related activities and functions are performed in a professional and ethical manner in compliance with the operating principles established for the accounting department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

 

                                                                                                                                   Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.

 

Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a corporate or public accounting environment or in a position with primary responsibility of interpreting and analyzing statistical and financial information, applying strong analytical and critical thinking skills with close attention to detail and making recommendations.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite projects, particularly advance Excel skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and perform a variety of simultaneous tasks (multi-tasking) in a high-pressure environment, demonstrating initiative, dependability, and self-direction to complete projects within expected deadlines or defined time estimates.
  • Excellent verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills and ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with co-workers, supervisors, store personnel and vendors.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Internal financial reporting and general ledger accounting experience.
