Overview

Job Summary

 

Supports, analyzes, and documents servers and systems focused on corporate offices, stores, and distribution centers. Installs, configures, maintains, and optimizes all server hardware and software to meet servers and systems performance requirements of the company. Diagnoses, resolves and documents hardware and software servers and systems problems in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring minimal downtime. Develops, designs, and recommends server technology solutions. Provides end user training, consulting, and assistance as required. Will manage IT server and systems projects at times. Consistently provides world class customer service to internal and external customers. Performs other related work.

 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with IT Staff to create optimal server and systems performance and configurations.
  • Monitor the physical and virtual environment to ensure safe and reliable operation and conformance to Service Level Agreements and performance metrics.
  • Practice hardware and software asset management, including maintenance of systems component inventory.
  • Conduct research on server products, services, and standards in support of server procurement and development efforts.
  • Optimize systems resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.
  • Respond to emergency server and systems outages.
  • Perform ongoing analysis of daily operations to identify issues and recommend changes to increase operational efficiency and quality of service.
  • Maintain current knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery plan executables.
  • Participate in incident response for network or security related instances.
  • Provide guidance and training to IT Staff as required.
  • Manage assigned projects to deliver services that meet established objectives on time and within budget.
  • Design, Engineer, and Maintain server, storage, and mail system solutions.
  • Manage SQL Databases and related professional services.
  • Design and implement secure system architecture to meet PCI requirements.
  • Evaluate, test and recommend server and systems hardware and software products.
  • Aid in development of business continuity, incident response, and disaster recovery plans and maintain current knowledge of plan executables.
  • Be on-call to trouble-shoot emergencies.

 Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in addition to experience listed below.

Experience:

  • At least 6 years Server Administration experience.
  • Applying technical knowledge of Windows Server and VMWare.
  • Design and Engineering of DHCP, DNS, and other network related services.
  • Applying proficiency in the following: Veeam backup software, vCenter virtualization software, Creating and managing VMs and server configurations in a VMware environment, Exchange 2016, Scripting experience with Powershell and Perl, Terminal services\RDS.
  • Exhibiting strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrating advanced knowledge of Storage Area Networks (SAN).
  • Implementing server and systems security.
  • Ability to use log correlation tools such as Splunk and Syslog to diagnose complex server and systems issues.

Preferred Education, Experience and/or Credentials:

  • 5 years Retail Grocery Experience
  • MCSE
  • VCP
